Bangkok Airways (BA) announces operating results at THB 20,252.4 million on total revenue for nine-month period of 2017

Bangkok/ 16 November 2017 – Today, Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited announces its operating results for the nine-month period of 2017 which has the total revenue amounting to 20,252.4 million baht. The profit before income tax was reported at 56.8 million baht. The net loss was 97.8 million baht.

Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways PCL commented that, “In the third quarter of 2017, the company has total revenue of 6,870.8 million baht, increased by 2.6 percent from the same period of the previous year. This was largely due to a constant growth in airport-related businesses by 14.0 percent, together with dividend received from investment. The average passenger load factor for the third quarter was 69.4 percent. Passenger yield per RPK was 4.33 baht, weakened from the third quarter of 2016 by 10.1 percent which was a consequence of increasing number of service providers on same destinations. Nonetheless, the number of passengers of Bangkok Airways increased by 6.9 percent for the third quarter of 2017. This was in line with the considerable growth in passenger revenue and in terms of passenger growth from point-of-sale in China as the company has started flight service from Samui to Chengdu, Samui to Guangzhou and Samui to Chongqing. The top 3 countries with highest revenue growth were from the point-of-sale in Asia including Taiwan, Vietnam, and from the point-of-sale in Russia”.

“For the nine-month period, the company has total revenue of 20,252.4 million baht.  The average passenger load factor is at 67.9 percent. The profit before income tax was reported at 56.8 million baht. The net loss was 97.8 million baht.” Mr. Puttipong added.

In the third quarter of 2017, two Airbus A319s were delivered in July 2017. Currently, Bangkok Airways’ fleet consists of 38 aircrafts. The company received “Best in Travels Poll 2017” from Smart Travel Asia, including “Top 10 Airlines Worldwide”, “Top 5 Best in Cabin Service – Worldwide 2017” and “Top 10 Airport Worldwide for Samui Airport 2017” which were conducted by SmartTravelAsia.com, “Best Full-Service Boutique Airline - APAC” from Air Transport Awards 2017 which was organized by Transport News Intl, the transportation industry’s leading publication in England and “Best Regional Airline 2017 Award” at the 28th Annual TTG Travel Awards 2017 Ceremony. All the awards were voted from passenger’s satisfaction survey, recognized persons from tourism industry and travelers from across the globe.
