Bangkok Airways enhances its precaution and prevention measures for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pneumonia
Bangkok / 3 March 2020 (Today) - Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited announces today that the airline has elevated their precaution and transmission prevention plans for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pneumonia as it takes the current outbreak very seriously. The measures apply not only to the airline’s operation but also to its three airports since health and safety of passengers and staff are the company’s utmost priority.
The elevated precaution and prevention plans are as follows:
Aircraft cleaning and disinfection: The airline steps up the cleaning and disinfecting of aircraft to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The cabins and cockpits of all aircrafts will undergo disinfectant misting and sterilization procedures. In addition to that, the airline has been cleaning the cabins using a high-level disinfectant on all areas such as passenger seats, seat pockets, lavatories, cabin galley since the beginning of the outbreak on daily basis. In the event that a suspected COVID19-infected passenger is found on any Bangkok Airways flight, the airline will have the aircraft cleaned and sterilized immediately.
Airports: The airports will disinfect and clean all key areas such as check-in counters, passenger lounges, food & beverage kiosks, baggage store, and wheelchairs with strong disinfectants. The airport will also perform primary screening by using a held-held thermometer to check each passenger’s temperature. If any passenger is found with high body temperature or symptoms, the staff shall notify public health officers at such port immediately. All three airports have prepared adequate amounts of cleansing hand gels for passengers and employees. There will be an increased frequency of general cleaning in high-traffic areas.
Service employees: All service staffs (ground staff and cabin crews) are required to wear protective face masks when on duty as well as protective gloves when serving food.
In addition, the company has rolled out a policy to prevent employees from traveling to the high-risk countries as well as requesting all employees not to travel at this at this time unless absolutely necessary.
The company’s precaution and prevention plans are in accordance with the standards and guidance of national authorities such as Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand as well as international organizations such as International Air Transport Association (IATA) and World Health Organization (WHO).
