Chiang Rai - Recently, Bangkok Airways Company Limited led by Mrs. Ariya Prasarttong-Osoth, Board of Directors and Chairman of Corporate Social Responsibility Division (2nd from right) together with          Mr. Sadompol Meewuttisom, Station Manager – Chiang Rai (Rightmost) presided over to a new classroom building delivery ceremony at Baan Doi Chang School, Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai. Bangkok Airways’ management was warmly welcomed by Mr. Narongsak Osatchanakorn, Governor of Chiang Rai (2nd from left) and Mr. Suang Kongjuck, Director of Baan Doi Chang School (Leftmost).

The Hong Rean Pordee Pordee project began in response to the 6.3 magnitude earthquake in 2014 that destroyed many schools in Chiang Rai province. The project, which rebuilt nine schools, was initiated by the non-profit research and design initiative, Design for Disasters. Bangkok Airways has been a part of this project by contributing 272 roundtrip air tickets worth 2,568,560 Baht in value to facilitate the operational teams who traveled between Bangkok and Chiang Rai.

The Hong Rean Por Dee Por Dee Project brought together four professional organizations:                 The Association of Siamese Architects together with the Engineering Institute of Thailand under H.M. the King’s patronage, Thai Contractors Association Under H.M. the King’s Patronage, The Consulting Engineers Association of Thailand and the Design for Disasters architect group. All four organizations joined forces to help rehabilitate quake-devastated Chiang Rai by rebuilding 9 schools, 9 homes and 2 temples, as well as attempting to reduce vulnerability in the local community while effectively and sustainably confronting the May 2014 disaster.
