
Angkor Wat, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is a scale of the Hindu cosmos, as intricately carved sandstone monument to the god-king Suryavarman II, who believed himself to be an earthly incarnation of the god Vishnu. Bas-reliefs on the walls of Angkor Wat depict celestial dancers, who would delight and entertain the god-king throughtout eternity.
This magnificent temple is the symbol of the Khmer nation and its silhoutte is depicted on the Cambodian national flag.
Angkor is located near Siem Reap Town, Cambodia, and eight kilometers away from Siem Reap Airport.

To hire for a car and driver to tour the monuments is about US$ 20 a day. One of the most popular forms of transportation among the ruins, however, is to hire motorcycle taxi and driver for US$ 7-10 per day.
Souvenirs and local handicrafts are inexpensive. Popular items here are cotton & silk scarves, textiles, bas-relief wall hangings and silverware.
Angkor Passes are available for US$ 20 per person per day or US$ 40 for a three-day pass or US$ 60 for a one-week pass. Children under 13 are admitted free. Passes are obtained beside the road between Siem Reap and Angkor, at the entry way to the ruins.
